Vaani Kapoor said – Even a small role in a good film is not a loss deal

Actress Vaani Kapoor, who started her Bollywood career with the film ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’ in the year 2013, is now doing films continuously after a long wait. These days Vaani is in discussion with her latest release film ‘Bell Bottom’. In this connection, we had this special conversation with him:

In the beginning of your career, you waited three years for the second picture and now you have three films coming back to back. What was the most important lesson for you in this 8-year film journey?
Man, my wait is not over, what should I do. Now that pictures are being made, the epidemic has arrived. Now because of that, I have to wait that if this epidemic ends, then pictures should be taken. I don’t know what is in my luck. Whenever something happens, wait comes first. Still, in films like the one I have been a part of, I am happy with my decisions. This industry has taught me to be most patient that nothing comes easily. Whoever has reached some point in this industry, he has reached through his hard work and right decisions, so you cannot tell him why he has come or why he is getting work? I am a girl from Delhi, I have come from there. I had no godfather, no support, but I got a chance to work with good people.

Your role in the film ‘Bell Bottom’ is not very big. So, what was the reason for doing this film?
Akshay Kumar is sir in this movie. He is a megastar. Action, comedy, everything is amazing, so the biggest thing for me was that I got a chance to work with him. I have always said that my father is a big fan of his. I am a huge fan of his, I have seen all his movies, so sharing screen space with him was a big opportunity for me. Yes, I would like to work with Akshay sir again, where my role is bigger, impactful, but the story of this film is very good, so being a small part of a good film is not bad either. There was so much power in the story that I felt that being a small part of such a good film was not a bad deal.

For the first time in your career you are so busy. After ‘Bell Bottom’, your films like ‘Shamshera’ and ‘Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui’ are also in the queue…
(In between) How long have I been waiting for ‘Shamshera’. ‘Shamshera’ was to come in July last year, but has been stalled due to Corona. They are also waiting for theaters to open everywhere, to have 100 per cent audience, because that film too is made for a big screen experience. Everyone has worked very hard. You will see Ranbir Kapoor in a very different form. Ranbir is a very good actor, so working with him was also memorable. He is looking very good in the film. My look is also very different. I am hoping that things go well soon, then my other two films also come on screen soon.

Akshay Kumar was seen flirting with Vaani Kapoor in the first song of Bell Bottom, Marjaawaan, the video went viral

Tell us something about the experience of ‘Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui’?
His experience was also very good. We shot the film in Chandigarh. I was 5-6 years old, when I had gone to Chandigarh once before, but we had not visited. This time too he could not roam due to Covid. Worked with Ayushmann for the first time. He is very hardworking, does realistic acting. Gattu sir (Abhishek Kapoor) is an amazing filmmaker. I have a lot of respect for him because he makes films with a lot of heart and with a different vision.

Social media has become an important part of our life, where both love and hate rain. How do you handle trolling and so on?
Look, either I focus on negativity or positive, if the positive is more, then there is nothing to worry about. You can’t keep everyone happy. No matter how hard you try, someone will have a problem with you, so I believe that give more importance to those people who are giving you love.

How was the experience of working with Akshay Kumar?
Initially I had no idea how they would be. I met him only once a long time ago. They talked very lovingly, but the conversation was very short and formal. It was my first experience where a star makes you feel so comfortable. We were so many people on the sets, Akshay sir used to take everyone along. Everyone used to sit and have lunch together. Whereas I am such that I eat alone in my hotel room. I get a little uncomfortable in the midst of people. I do not understand what to talk about, so Akshay sir helped a lot in making that comfort. They are so comfortable and Punjabi, so a connection is made.

Both of you are in the role of a couple in the film. It is often criticized in the industry that heroes romance heroines half their age. What is your opinion about this?
I really believe that age is just a number. Tomorrow I turn 50 and there is a story where I have to romance a young hero, so I don’t think society should bother with it, because it is a story. Age is just a number. Whatever these stars are, they are in films because people are giving them love. Want to see them and really age shouldn’t matter. If someone is doing good work, why are you asking him to retire, be it a girl or a boy, age should not be given so much attention.
