Liver damage of 6 people from Giloy
It has become clear in research that people have had liver damage due to the consumption of herbal immune boosters during Covid-19. Between September 2020 and December 2020, a team of doctors in Mumbai had noticed about 6 cases of liver damage caused by decoction of Giloy. Symptoms like jaundice (jaundice) and lethargy-fatigue were seen in these patients. These people had reached the doctor with a physical complaint. After investigation, it was found that all these people had consumed excessive amount of Tinospora cordifolia i.e. Giloy. At the same time, in a study published in the Indian National Association for the Study of Liver, it has been claimed that the consumption of Giloy can cause liver damage.

These symptoms were seen in patients after consuming Giloy
Among those who had liver damage, the first patient was a 40-year-old male, who was undergoing treatment for jaundice in the hospital for 15 days. Investigation revealed that this person used to consume Giloy with cinnamon and clove once in two days. The second and third patients were 54 and 38 years old. Both were suffering from various chronic health problems and had been drinking herbal juices for about 6 months. At the same time, the fourth patient had type-2 diabetes and she was a 62-year-old woman. This woman complained of loss of appetite, yellowing of eyes and skin and flatulence. He had a syrup which contained Giloy for about a month. The fifth and sixth patients also had jaundice, whose liver function was effectively reduced.

According to the Ministry of AYUSH, Giloy should be taken in the form of an extract in the form of 500 mg or 1-3 grams of powder twice a day with warm water for 15 days or a month.
