Former BJP leader Babul Supriyo on Tuesday formally resigned from the membership of the Lok Sabha. Babul Supriyo had left the BJP a month ago and joined the Trinamool Congress. Supriyo thanked the former party BJP for reposing faith in him.
After resigning after meeting Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Babul Supriyo told reporters that my heart is heavy because I started my political career with BJP. I thank the Prime Minister, party president and Amit Shah. He showed faith in me. He said that I had given up politics completely. I thought if I am not part of the party then I should not keep the seat.

The development comes at a time when the two-time MP from West Bengal’s Asansol had written a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on September 20, two days after joining the Trinamool Congress, seeking time so that he can formally resign from the House. . Babul Supriyo had said many times that he is no longer a member of the party from which he won this seat, so he does not want to remain an MP.
