After 34,457 new cases of Covid-19 were reported in the country, the total number of infected people increased to 3,23,93,286 on Saturday. At the same time, the number of patients under treatment came down to 3,61,340, which is the lowest in 151 days. According to the updated data of the Union Health Ministry till 8 am on Saturday, the death toll reached 4,33,964 with 375 more people losing their lives.
Active patients reduced to 3.61 lakh
The ministry said that the number of active patients has come down to 3,61,340, which is the lowest in 151 days and 1.12 percent of the total cases of infection, which is the lowest since March 2020. At the same time, the recovery rate is 97.54 percent, which is the highest since March last year. In the last 24 hours, the number of patients undergoing treatment for Covid-19 has decreased by 2,265.
Positivity rate less than 3% from 26 days
The daily rate of infection was recorded at two percent. It is less than 3% in the last 26 days. The weekly infection rate was recorded at 1.98%. It is less than three per cent for the last 57 days. On Friday, 17,21,205 samples were tested for detection of Covid-19. With this, the number of samples tested so far has reached 50,45,76,158. The number of patients who have recovered from this disease has increased to 3,15,97,982 while the death rate is 1.34%.

According to ministry data, 57.61 crore doses of anti-Covid-19 vaccine have been given so far under the nationwide vaccination campaign. The number of Covid-19 cases in India crossed 20 lakh on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on 23 August, 40 lakh on 5 September and 50 lakh on 16 September. It had crossed 60 lakh on 28 September, 70 lakh on 11 October. It crossed 80 lakh on 29 October, 90 lakh on 20 November and one crore on 19 December. The number of infection cases in the country had crossed the two crore mark on May 4 and three crore on June 23.
