Helicopter Crash: Air Force Thanks Locals For Help

The Indian Air Force on Saturday thanked the local villagers, the Nilgiris district administration and the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Office for their assistance in the aftermath of the helicopter crash. Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat, his wife and 11 other armed forces personnel died in the accident. The people of nearby Katteri village were the first to reach the accident site and informed the police and fire department about the incident.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) tweeted, ‘IAF thanks the officers and staff of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Office, Nilgiris District Administration, Police Officers and the local people of Katteri village for their prompt and sustained assistance in the rescue operation after the unfortunate chopper accident. .’

In fact, on Wednesday, CDS was going to take part in a program from Wellington helicopter from Salur Air Force base in Coimbatore. But his helicopter crashed before reaching there.
