Union minister Narayan Rane, who was arrested for his controversial remarks against Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, was granted bail late Tuesday night. Narayan Rane has been granted bail by a court in Mahad in Raigad district. However, he has been granted bail with certain conditions. On the other hand, after getting bail, Rane tweeted ‘Satyamev Jayate’.
Four FIRs were registered against him in Maharashtra over Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Rane’s remarks. He was arrested by Ratnagiri police on Tuesday afternoon.

After his arrest, Rane was produced before the court of Judicial Magistrate Shekhbabaso S Patil at 10.45 pm. Public prosecutor Bhushan Salvi requested to send BJP leader Rane to seven-day police custody for further investigation. He also claimed that Rane’s arrest was illegal as he was not summoned under Section 41A of the Code of Criminal Procedure before his arrest.

The court, after hearing both the sides, refused to send the Union minister to police custody. Instead decided to send him to judicial custody. But on the application of bail by his lawyers, Rane was granted bail on a surety of Rs 15,000.

The court directed Rane to appear before the Mahad police station on August 30 and September 13. Apart from this, the conditions of bail also include a condition that Rane will not make any such statement in future.
