Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to French President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday. During this time, the two leaders discussed bilateral and regional and global issues of mutual interest, as well as expressed satisfaction at the positive results of the recently concluded India and European Union (EU) leaders’ meeting. During this telephonic conversation, Modi thanked him for the help provided by France in combating India’s Covid epidemic.
A statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said that Modi and President Macron agreed that the announcements made regarding the resumption of negotiations for a balanced and comprehensive free trade and the Investment Agreement and the India-EU Liaison Agreement Welcome steps.
“The two leaders discussed bilateral and regional and global issues of mutual interest and also expressed satisfaction at the positive results of the recently concluded meeting of Indian and EU leaders,” the statement said.
The two leaders expressed satisfaction at the depth and strength of the strategic partnership between India and France in recent years and agreed to continue working together in the post-Covid world. Prime Minister Modi once again invited President Macron to come to India after the situation improved from Covid-19.
Modi recently held a digital meeting with the heads of heads of 27 countries of the European Union.
