After the resignation of Captain Amarinder Singh as the Chief Minister of Punjab, the reactions of the leaders of all the parties started coming. These include parties like BJP, National Conference, SAD (United). Some where called him the only patriot in the Congress. At the same time, many talked about not expecting much from the Congress in giving a fight to the BJP.

BJP’s youth wing Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha National General Secretary Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga wrote on Twitter, “Sad for Captain Sahab. He was the only patriotic person in the Congress party. He had refused to meet the Canadian minister because he was pro-Khalistan.

The incident that Bagga has mentioned happened a few years back. In 2017, the then Defense Minister of Canada, Harjit Singh Sajan visited India. Even before he came to India, Amarinder Singh had made it clear that he would not meet the gentleman as the gentleman is a Khalistani sympathizer.

At the same time, Jammu and Kashmir National Conference’s Vice President Omar Abdullah has also clearly said that it is not right to expect too much from the Congress. Abdullah tweeted and wrote, ‘I think it is too much to expect from the Congress that it will be able to give a fight to the BJP. Especially considering that its leaders in the state are intent on fighting among themselves.

The BJP on Saturday said Amarinder Singh’s resignation as Punjab chief minister reflects the Congress high command’s uneasiness to tide over the situation ahead of the assembly polls. The party said that the ruling party of the state is a divided camp.

BJP general secretary Tarun Chugh said in a statement that the Congress is nervous as it sees defeat in the elections. He said that the Congress is struggling to revive itself in Punjab.

Union Minister and BJP MP from Punjab Som Prakash said that Captain Amarinder Singh’s resignation clearly shows that Congress is desperate as it is losing its credibility with every passing day.

Responding to Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh’s resignation, SAD (United) leader Parminder Singh Dhindsa said Congress has made him a “scapegoat” to save the party from allegations of non-fulfilment of poll promises. Amarinder Singh on Saturday resigned from the chief minister’s post amid infighting in the state unit of the Congress.
