The Indian cricket team not only ended their campaign in the T20 World Cup with a thumping 9-wicket win over Namibia but also their captain Virat Kohli (last match as captain, will continue to play as a player) and head coach Ravi. Shastri was also given a victorious farewell. When Kohli decided to step down from the captaincy after the T20 World Cup, Ravi Shastri’s tenure came to an end with this tournament. Batting first, Namibia scored 132 runs for 8 wickets in the match. In reply, India won the match in 15.2 overs due to the stormy half-centuries of Rohit (56) and KL Rahul (54 *).

Both the teams were already out of the race for the semi-finals. Chasing Namibia’s target of 133, India took Rohit’s 56 off 37 balls with two sixes and seven fours, besides Lokesh Rahul (54 not out in 36 balls, four fours, two sixes) for his first wicket. Thanks to the 86-run partnership, they scored 136 runs for one wicket with 28 balls to spare. Rahul also shared an unbroken 50-run partnership for the second wicket with Suryakumar Yadav (25 not out off 19 balls).

Man of the match Jadeja (3 for 16), Ashwin (3 for 20) and Jasprit Bumrah (2 for 19) could only manage 132 for eight in front of the Namibia team. Namibia lost wickets at regular intervals and only David Wiese (26) and opener Stephen Byrd (21) were able to cross the 20-run mark. However, India also gave away 17 extra runs to help the team reach a respectable score.

Chasing the target, Rohit Sharma was lucky on his very first ball when he was caught at short fine leg and the ball went for four runs. The unfortunate bowler was Ruben Trumpelman. Taking advantage of the lifeline, Rohit welcomed YC with fours and sixes. Rohit completed 3000 runs in T20 International cricket with a four on Trumpleman. He is the third batsman to achieve this feat. Before him, Indian captain Virat Kohli and New Zealand’s Martin Guptill have achieved this feat.

Rohit continued the attack with fours and sixes on left-arm spinner Bernard Scholtz while Rahul took the ball of YC into the audience. India scored 54 runs in the power play without losing any wicket. Rohit scored a four on Smit and then completed the 24th half-century in 31 balls with a run. Rahul hit a six off Jane Frylink while Rohit too tried to hit the same pacer for a six and waved the ball in the air and wicketkeeper Jane Green made no mistake in taking the catch. Suryakumar Yadav also hit a four on Jane Nicole Lofty Eaton as soon as he came and in his next over also saw the ball for the boundary.
