The government has once again given good news to the people of Delhi. Vehicle drivers in Delhi no longer need to carry their driving license and registration certificate (RC). Now Delhiites can show their documents in DigiLocker or MParivahan mobile app when asked for license or RC by traffic police and transport department.

The Transport Department of the Delhi Government issued a notice stating that the digitally present driving license and registration certificate in the DigiLocker platform or mParivahan mobile app are valid documents under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. It is legal to display these documents issued by the Transport Department digitally.

According to the notice, “Both the Traffic Police and the Enforcement Wing of the Transport Department now accepts the display of Driving License and Registration Certificate in electronic form in DigiLocker and mParivahan App.”
However, it has been clarified in the notice that soft copy of driving license and registration will not be accepted in any form other than these two apps.
The notice also said that as per the Information Technology Act, 2020, driving license and registration certificate are valid as original documents when recorded in DigiLocker or mParivahan app.
DigiLocker is a cloud-based platform where documents and certificates can be verified and shared.
