Service is still going on in many states
Talking about Vodafone Idea or Vi, the company has made a big change in its entry level plan like Airtel and has stopped the service of Rs 49 plan in most of its circles. For the time being, the Vi 49 plan is active only in a few states including Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh.
But reports claim that soon this service will be stopped in these states as well. So far, there is no official statement from Vodafone Idea regarding the tariff hike, but it is gradually removing this plan from its website.

Trying to Improve Vi’s ARPU
It is no secret that Vodafone Idea is trying its best to improve its ARPU and it is believed that this development has been done for that purpose only.

Analysts have predicted that telcos will increase tariffs further in the next four to six months to improve the average revenue per user (ARPU).

Outgoing SMS service also stopped
Earlier this year, Vodafone Idea stopped offering outgoing SMS service with all its entry-level plans. This has led analysts to speculate that telcos may introduce indirect fee hikes to boost average revenue per user (ARPU).

Looking at the changes that have taken place so far, it seems that telecom companies are moving in the direction of indirect hike. Because recently Vi has removed outgoing SMS benefits from its two unlimited prepaid recharge plans. Vodafone Idea’s Rs 49, Rs 79, Rs 95, Rs 99 and Rs 109 prepaid plans no longer offer outgoing SMS facility, with the telco noting “no outgoing SMS”.
