Sana Ramchand became the first Hindu woman officer of Pakistan, passed the civil examination


Dr Sana Ramchand Gulwani, a Hindu girl in Pakistan has created history. Sana is going to become the first Hindu woman government official of Pakistan. Sana gave Pakistan’s prestigious public service exam Central Superior Services (CSS) and was successful in her very first attempt. This exam is considered to be one of the toughest exams in Pakistan.

Government officer left doctor
The selection in the administrative service is done on the basis of the result of the exam. It is similar to the Civil Services Examination of India, which is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission. However, Sana’s initial plan regarding career was different. Media reports say that his parents wanted him to pursue a career in the medical field. In the year 2016, Sana completed her MBBS degree from Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University.

She continued her further studies as a Urologist and later got selected in the Federal Public Service Commission. Sana was quoted as saying by The Times of India, ‘When I started my training, for a few months, I was posted as a female medical officer in the taluka hospital of Lakhi, Shikarpur. The community health situation in the rural areas of Sindh is very poor.

The aim is to bring change in the society
She said, ‘I used to see patients every day but neither medicines were available to give them nor there was a system to admit them. Even some minor medicines like tetanus and anti-rabies were also lacking. This kind of arrangement raised questions in my mind about the purpose of the government hospital. According to the report, when the Deputy Commissioner of Shikarpur visited the hospital in 2019, Sana saw that everyone wanted to work and want to overcome the shortcomings of the hospital. That’s when he decided to make a career in the civil service and bring a change in the society.
