Washington
Scientists are in tension due to the ever-increasing waste of satellites in space. They have warned that if these are not stopped, space waste could lead to the formation of a Saturn-like ring around the Earth. There are currently more than 17 million pieces of space debris floating around. These include natural meteorites, broken pieces of artificial objects and inactive satellites.

Saturn-like ring will have to be made around the earth
Researchers from the University of Utah in the US have told that today space is filled with so much junk that we will have to make a Saturn-like ring around the Earth using magnet technology. If this is not done, then due to the ever-increasing numbers, the risk of colliding with other spacecraft and satellites will also increase. Some of these pieces are only as big as 10 centimeters. They can hit a satellite at a speed faster than a bullet.

How dangerous is space debris
Space debris is as harmful as the pollution on Earth. This is a big crisis for astronauts and space missions. Space debris has increased by 7,500 metric tons in the past decade. It poses a serious threat to the safety of astronauts, the International Space Station and the hundreds of satellites orbiting the Earth.

Get to know the first space waste
The first junk in space was a bunch of copper needles sent by the US military in 1963. Actually, the US Army found out the problem in communication. After which he sent millions of copper needles into space as an alternative to the ionosphere to correct it. It’s called the Project Space Needle or Project West Ford.

Space waste has been increasing since 60 years
In the last 60 years, as the space activities of different countries have increased, the waste reaching the earth is increasing. In July 2016, the US Strategic Command recorded 17,852 artificial objects in near space, including 1419 artificial satellites. But it was only a matter of big bodies. Earlier, a 2013 study found 170 million wastes of less than 1 cm in size and 670,000 in sizes between 1 and 10 cm. The estimated number of large-sized wastes was estimated at 29,000.
